I’m pleased to share my blog post with the Military Birth Resource Network & Postpartum Coalition, “Bureaucratic Barriers Limit Critical Birth Support at Military Treatment Facilities for TRICARE Prime Beneficiaries.” This piece calls attention to the exclusion of pregnant TRICARE Prime service members from vital doula and lactation support, and how that omission undermines maternal health and military readiness
Access to quality birth and postpartum care should not depend on which side of a bureaucratic line a service member falls. By closing these gaps, Congress and the Department of Defense can ensure that every pregnant service member receives the full spectrum of support they deserve—strengthening both maternal health outcomes and the readiness of our armed forces.
