I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve joined Defence Kidz, an Australian nonprofit, as their American Ambassador!
Who is Defence Kidz?
Defence Kidz empowers children from Defence and veteran families through education, advocacy, and by creating Australian Defence Force–specific resources to foster stronger connections across family, school, and community.
They publish a series of children’s books that explore military life experiences—inclusive stories designed to help young readers feel seen, understood, and valued, both at home and within their broader communities.
Why this mission matters to me:
As a veteran, military spouse, mom, and author of All The Things Our Mommy Can Do and All The Things Our Daddy Can Do, I genuinely believe in the transformative power of storytelling.
When books reflect real experiences, especially military life, they help children recognize that their stories are valid—and that they matter.
Defence Kidz’s commitment to literacy and representation resonates deeply with my own mission to inspire confidence, cultural change, and empowerment.
My role as Ambassador:
In this new capacity, I’ll help elevate Defence Kidz’s impactful work here in the U.S., sharing their books, resources, and community initiatives with American military families. Together, we can build a global bridge of support, understanding, and storytelling for children who navigate military life.
This partnership aligns perfectly with the core of White Lace & Combat Boots—where advocacy, representation, and cultural transformation come together. I’m excited to take this step forward with Defence Kidz, championing literacy and celebration of military children everywhere.
I’m incredibly grateful to Defence Kidz for welcoming me to their mission, and I can’t wait to see how our work together expands support and connection across borders.
